Here's one of those layouts where the picture stands alone. I just love this picture so I just found my favorite papers and found this title which I thought was perfect and threw it all together. The layout did not take very long at all. I always wanted to try this kind of collage of patterned papers together. It's definitely not my every day style so I'm not sure if it all blends and looks right but it was easy. I've also begun to change my mind about layouts with just one picture. I think it can work - especially when you have one picture that tells the whole story.

It's been a while....

I made this layout a while ago but you know the reason for the delay- I struggle with blog time. The layout is Alton riding his first rides by himself. I did actually fill in the journaling block so the page is complete and album ready. I struggled with this layout for a long time as I was scraplifting the layout and got stumped with paper color choices. I know it could use paper/color behind the pictures but every paper I tried looked too busy or the wrong color. I finally gave up and called it done.

Reposting my first layout

My very first layout that I posted on my blog did not have the second page to it so I'm reposting it now - also so it looks like I've done something new. ;)

A layout to share

Okay, here is a layout I've had done for a while (a few weeks) but it seems the longest part of this process now is getting it posted on here. I need one of those bluetooth cameras that uploads pictures to your computer just by being near it as this business of needing the memory card in multiple places is dragging me down. Anyway, the layout....here's the deal. As one of my latest tasks was organizing all my photos I have found old photos that missed getting scrapbooked. The pictures in this layout are from Halloween 2006. It's a drag to go backwards but it would be a bigger drag to have this memory lost or put in a shoe box so here is my layout. Sleep or Treat! :)

Mother's Day Card

Here is a Mother's Day card I created. Not much to it but I liked it and wanted to show that I have been doing stuff. :)

Finally I'm posting a layout!

Okay, so it's been a while since my last post, but to show I have been scrapbooking I'm posting this layout I did recently of my trip to Ireland. I had all the pictures from this trip in an album but thought it would be nice to have a layout of the highlights of the trip to go in our travel album. I completed the 2 pages a few weekends ago but journaling always seems to hold me up. So tonight I quickly wrote down my thoughts in the journaling spaces and considered this done and ready to post. Here it is.

Latest Layouts

The reason I am proud of this layout is because of the time it took me to complete it. It took me less time to create this layout than to get it posted on my blog. It is the first time I recall completing a layout from beginning to end at home in one sitting. Of course the paper was pre-made and designed already but I added the pic, the journaling and the embellishments in no time at all - I then created a card with the time I had left to work.

This layout is one I like because it was the design that came first - pictures second. I noticed I had a lot of green scraps in my folder and decided to use them up on a layout. I did some layering using different textures of paper and then stitched my first title (freehand): Tradition. I like how it turned out and plan to use stitching again. It's something I can do while sitting on the couch and add to my page later. I'm always trying to find little steps I can do that don't require me to be stuck in my scrapbook room. I love being stuck in here but time is so limited so I find other ways to be productive. The only thing with this layout is the pictures are a little dark and the page blends a little too much. This is a habit I am trying to break - being too matchy matchy. I just noticed this recently that my creativity suffers from being stuck in a mindset that everything should match. I hope to have new layouts to show soon where all doesn't match but still works together. It's always a work in progress....
By the way this is the card I made that day with my extra time. Just a very simple "It's a Boy" card. I really like making cards because it uses up my scraps. My goal is to create cards so I never have to buy another one again. I'm not there just yet.

More layouts done at the crop

I had made this layout a few years ago and finally found the perfect pictures for it. I had also purchased my first set of clear stamps at this crop - the journaling blocks with lines. I used it on this layout for the journaling. I didn't use a mounting block as I didn't buy one yet so it's not as clean but I think it's adds a little character to the layout. I now have a clear mounting block for the clear stamps for future projects and plan to buy more clear stamps as I really like them.

This is Marisa at gymnastics at the Little Gym. The layout idea and materials were actually from a page kit but the title they used was "Cutie" so I changed that and some other things to make the page my own. I obviously still have to journal on the horizontal strips.

So those were layouts of Marisa's 5th Birthday party and this layout is of professional family photos taken. They will go in my "All About Us" album.
